Foster

The purpose of a foster home is to provide a safe and secure environment while they wait to be adopted into their forever home.

The foster home allows the dog to adjust to a home setting, receive proper care and training, and receive the love and attention they need before they can be adopted. It also allows the foster family to get to know the dog and help determine the best fit for the dog’s permanent home

The Big Mutt Network considers our Foster Families to be essential to the welfare and proper placement of our gentle giants.

Adoption fees charged by the rescues serve several important purposes, ultimately benefit the adopting family and the rescue Mutt. Here are some key reasons why adoption fees are necessary:

                 Covering Medical Expenses:

  • Adoption fees help cover the veterinary expenses incurred by the rescue organization. This includes vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and any necessary medical treatments.

               Ensuring Responsible Adoption:

  • By charging a fee, rescues ensure that potential adopters are committed and financially capable of providing proper care for the adopted pet. This helps reduce impulsive adoptions and ensures a responsible, long-term commitment.

                Supporting Future Rescues:

  • Adoption fees contribute to the sustainability of the rescue organization. The funds collected help cover the costs of rescuing and caring for other animals in need, creating a cycle of support for ongoing rescue efforts.

               Providing Necessary Supplies:

  • The adoption fee often includes essential supplies for the pet, such as a collar, leash, food, and sometimes a starter kit. This ensures that the adopted pet transitions smoothly into their new home.

                Fostering a Sense of Value:

  • Assigning a fee emphasizes the value of the pet and the resources invested in their care. This helps adopters recognize the commitment involved in pet ownership.

                Promoting Responsible Ownership:

  • Adoption fees are a way to filter potential adopters and discourage those who may not be fully prepared for the responsibilities of pet ownership. This helps ensure a higher likelihood of successful, long-term placements.

(Remember that while the adoption fee is a one-time cost, the long-term benefits include a healthier, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered pet, as well as ongoing support from the rescue organization. Ultimately, adoption fees contribute to the welfare of the animals and enable the rescue to continue its mission of saving lives by paying  it forward.

Educated Guesswork:

  • The process involves a degree of educated guesswork, where we make an informed estimate based on our observations and knowledge. However, it's important to remember that such guesses are not definitive, and the listed breed is often referred to as a "best guess" or a "breed mix."

We unfortunately do not have a facility However, we do offer meet and greets once  your application has been approved.
