Foster FAQ

Are you considering fostering but have a million questions and don’t know where to start? This page is here to answer many of our frequently asked questions. If you still have more questions please feel free to contact us. We are here to help!

What is Fostering, and why is it important?

Fostering is welcoming a dog into your home while they are waiting to find their forever home. You provide love, care, and attention. Foster homes are incredibly important as they get dogs out of shelters, let them relax, get medical care, and help them learn how to be part of a family.

How much does fostering cost? Do I need supplies?

Fostering is free! TBMN will supply a collar, ID tag, and leash, as well as cover medical care. There are crates and other supplies available to borrow if you need them such as crates.

How long will I have my foster dog?

The ideal foster situation is they would stay with you until they find their forever home. That time can vary from a few days to several months. The average stay for a foster dog is 2 months but many factors play into that.

Are you interested in fostering, but are not able or willing to keep a dog for a long time? We also need temporary fosters to cover transport gaps, foster vacations, ect. If you are interested in that sign up here.

I have other pets, and/or kids. Can I foster?

Yes! While not all of our dogs will be the best fit for you our foster coordinator will match you with one that will fit your family dynamics.
